Unleashing Talent: The American International School of GZ

Vantree Design and Pearl River Design's Innovative Approach to Educational Spaces

Discover how Vantree Design and Pearl River Design transformed the American International School of GZ into a space that not only fosters education but also encourages the exploration of individual talents. This project, awarded the prestigious Platinum A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, is a testament to the power of innovative design in shaping educational experiences.

The inspiration behind the design of the American International School of GZ was the belief that every student possesses unique talents. The design team sought to create a space that would allow these talents to flourish, likening the process to opening a real box of gifts. The result was a school environment that not only meets educational needs but also encourages the exploration of individual potentials.

The design project stands out for its commitment to sustainability, having received a LEED Silver certification from the USGBC. The theme of opening a gift box is carried through from the exterior facades to the interior spaces, reflecting the high expectations of the school and its commitment to helping students discover their unique gifts.

The design team utilized a variety of materials and technologies to realize their vision, including imitation wood carving aluminum plates, gradient glass, square carpets, and LED lights. The outer facades of the hall, created using geometric elements and GRC, are illuminated by hidden LED lights, creating a mysteriously illusive structure that stands out as the spotlight center of the area by nightfall.

Despite the limitations of the hallway space, the design team was able to maximize its utility. Laminated stairs serve dual purposes, acting as both display areas and resting benches. This innovative use of space fosters a relaxed and equal atmosphere for communication among students, teachers, and parents.

The design project, which took place from November 2016 to May 2017 in Guangzhou, involved the renovation of 499 halls, music rooms, artistic corridors, and lobbies. These spaces are functional for performances, teaching, entertainment, and presentations, reflecting the diverse needs of the school community. The project is a testament to the power of innovative design in shaping educational experiences and fostering individual talent.

In conclusion, the American International School of GZ, designed by Vantree Design and Pearl River Design, is a shining example of how innovative design can transform educational spaces. The project not only meets the functional needs of the school but also fosters an environment that encourages the exploration of individual talents. It is a testament to the power of design in shaping educational experiences and a deserving recipient of the prestigious Platinum A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018.
